Ellen O’Callaghan

Ellen O’Callaghan is a third-year medical student who began working in the Goodwin lab at the end of her first year. Ellen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022 with a degree in Neuroscience and minors in Bioethics and Chemistry. There, she conducted research at CHOP under Dr. Meagan McManus investigating the mitochondrial basis of Parkinson’s disease in mice. She was also a member of the varsity lacrosse team. Ellen has an interest in clinical research to improve patient outcomes. Specifically, her current research is aimed at investigating the prevalence of depression in the neurosurgical population, the detection of depression by screening tools, and the utilization of psychological interventions in this space.
