Josh’s research is primarily focused on looking at the role of distress on quality of life and clinical outcomes among patients with spine pathologies. For his third-year research project, Josh will focus on characterizing distress in brain and spine metastasis animal models, as well as clinical interventions to reduce distress and improve healthcare-related quality of life among patients with metastatic spine disease. Prior to attending Duke, Dana graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2022 where she studied Public Health Studies and Economics. After graduating, Josh spent one year working for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health doing policy research on improving global access to health technologies and identifying innovative finance models for antibiotic development. Josh grew up in Greer, South Carolina and in his free time, enjoys running, cooking, exploring the food scene in Durham, and watching sports!
